Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Fighters Group

Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a exciting storyline featuring angels, fiends, and sinister influences growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Heads-up: Revealing details for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled

Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the initial group of characters who will branch out from the main group to begin their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table features Teor (played by the voice actor), the agile character (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

With a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that having everyone at one table would be unworkable.

This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who prefer a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are rare.

At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might seem unsuited, but the events of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose death started the campaign’s events—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.

The antagonist then cleared his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the city, with Cyd close behind.

Personal Motivations

Moreover, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:

  • Thimble, as the companion and best friend, wants revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows the region and warns that it is a dangerous place.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
  • Yet, their status as important members in the powerful family could assist the team access locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, The grateful character vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control the city for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:

  • Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and The cleric defied the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by the clan.

This results in them no alternative but to head to the northern region in search of the antagonist.

What’s Next?

Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear next week, leaving the remaining eight players to round up the Seekers and Strategists tables.

Viewers can expect learning which characters will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
