Multiple Injured as In-Flight Disturbance Strikes Delta Aircraft into Sydney

Multiple passengers and crew were hurt after a Delta Airlines jet traveling from Los Angeles to Sydney, Australia was hit by rough air this past Friday.

Flight DL41 "went through a short bout of rough air" as it made its approach and landed at the Sydney airport, a company official told. A number of the onboard staff were injured.

Local paramedics stated they treated a total of five people, and transferred three of them to a medical facility with minor injuries that comprised spinal discomfort and migraines. The patients' ages ranged from their 30s up to the 70s.

It is the latest incident of aircraft encountering atmospheric disturbance, with aviation specialists saying that shifting climate patterns is a significant contributor.

On board were nearly 250 travelers and fifteen staff members on the wide-body jet, the representative noted, clarifying that the plane landed "without further incident" at the airport at shortly before 7 a.m. on the day in question.

Emergency responders said they received a call just only 180 seconds ahead of the plane arrived, and emergency vehicles were waiting on the tarmac.

As climate change alters the conditions in the sky, specialists caution that air travel could become more turbulent: warming trends and altered air currents in the jet stream level are expected to heighten the occurrence and strength of significant turbulence.
